detroit schools
Jane Cooper Elementary in Detroit, Michigan

» What’s New
I spent the better part of last week working in Detroit, focusing on the public schools that have been closed there due to budget cuts. Many of the schools weren't properly secured after closing and have been absolutely gutted by vandals and scrap metal seekers. The destruction reminded me a lot of the churches I saw after Hurricane Katrina. A larger gallery is here (and licensable here).

In the last month I've shot some great assignments for returning clients like BusinessWeek, National Public Radio, the Wall Street Journal and Newsweek. One of the highlights was a shoot with John Bogle, founder of Vanguard and one of the most energetic, vital and funny 79 year olds you could ever hope to meet. A few more from the shoot here.

I'll be in DC for most of the next month and available for assignments.

Thanks for reading, and keep an eye out for a new postcard mailer in May featuring one of the titans of the Cold War.
